#89 Can Scarcely Breathe

Snowy capped mountain peaks
Hold everything a young boy seeks
Yeti monsters
And a place to plant your flag

Wearing a furry coat
And steampunk goggles
The family crest flaps merrily
On the thin mountain air

The local men who led you there
Standing tired and bored
Waiting for their money
Chat idly, waiting for you to get done

You are the master of all that you survey
Or at least it feels that way
Everything laid out
In miniature before you

With your giant fist
You could smash it all
Change the course of rivers
With your fingertips
Reach out and make other mountains
With the palms of your hands

The lack of oxygen starts to get to you
And you laugh giddily
Your minders tug your sleeve
Trying to remind you it's time to go

You shrug them off
A purpose in your mind
You run to the edge
And keep on going

Spreading your wings
Soaring out into the air
You swoop and you dive
To seek your purpose

The ground come up fast
Imaginary miniatures becoming reality
The rocks reach out to embrace you
Merging with your flightless form

Your goggles lay broken
Upon a quartz outcropping
Glinting in the sun
Marking your passage
