#127 The Red and the Blue

In this land
There were two clans it was said
One was blue from top to bottom
The other from bottom to top was red

Each look at the other
One brushing blue fur
The other combing red
Covered with fur they were
From their toes to their head

The Red
Wet the bed
You can’t believe a thing they said
They aren’t a bit right in the head

So said the Blue

And according to Red:

The Blue
Sniff the glue
Don’t have a clue
And their women are shrew

They’ve had disagreements
They’ve had fights
They’ve had wars
Over their color’s rights

At last, the leader of Red
Who was named Fred
Got together with Bobby-Sue
The head of Blue

They bickered and ranted
Then ate and decanted
Drinking a wicked brew of the North
Then things got hazy
Some say a little crazy
Between Red Fred and Bobby-Sue Blue

After that day
Things were strangely better
Blue and Red thought each other might be OK
They held festivals and ate dinner
Had contests where everyone was a winner
And everyone had to give a little
All got to have some of their way

Happiness came to Fred and Bobby-Sue too
They moved in together
And had a polka dotted daughter
Colored both red, and blue
Named Freddy-Sue

#126 Revolution!

I’m rioting in the streets
For something to eat
I’m the disenfranchised
The underutilized
The underclass
To the upperclass

I’m the one
That will bite them
In their collective ass

Someday
Soon
The 90 percent
Will wise up
That the 10 percent
Who run this country
And own this country
Are a bit outnumbered

That will be the day of reckoning
The French Revolution will have been nothing
Compared to this

My country, 'tis of thee
Sweet land I rape for free
I inherited my father’s bling
This mighty sigil ring
That which you must kiss

Rise up brothers and sisters
Throw off the yoke of your media inspired perceptions
And stop fighting amongst ourselves
A people divided
Are a people who are no threat
To those in power

Let’s own this bitch of a country

#125 Goes Out Out Out

I walk
As Carl Sagan once did
Out upon the stars
In my dreams

I float weightlessly
I roam aimlessly
But always making time
Away from the core

Bodies that have no name
Phenomena some would kill to see
I can’t define it
I only divine it
With my eyes
And the solar winds upon my cheek

All the galaxies ablaze at my back
I go ever outward
Things getting sparser
The void lonelier

Until, sometime
Somewhere
After tripping on countless comets
Wading in every nebulae I could find
I reach the end

There is nothing
As far as the eye can see
It doesn’t end
Like some Looney Tunes Cartoon
And fade to white
And off the page

It’s just void
It sucks at my self
It blurs my soul
It strips me of name
It erases face
All hope is as gone
As the galaxies I’ve left behind
And I long for now

Continuing on
Although motion is meaningless now
I search for a spark
Or a darkness
That sticks out
And speaks of something
Or someone
Who also was so foolish
As to venture
So far
To here

This nothing
Place

#124 Is A Humble Servant

The jar was clearly marked
“To be checked
And adjusted
Upon Installation”

So really this abomination
Can’t be
Shouldn’t be
Blamed on me

I’m just a gopher
I do what I’m told
Master tells me to get a brain
And that’s what I do
He didn’t say what kind
What color
What temperament
He didn’t even say thank you

And when everything goes haywire
Who get’s blamed?
That’s right, me
Who only threw the switches
And picked out the brain

#123 Remembers a Cliche Place

This modern life of mine
Doesn't follow the plan
Of careful reason and rhyme
That I had all worked out back in the van

In my van down by the river
It's where I went to think
The water moved on by swiftly
And you could almost stand the stink

That van was up on blocks
Never to move again
I try not to think of what became of it
Although I think I see it every now and then

I drank my first beer
Sitting on a couch inside
When my old man wanted to whip me
It's where I went to hide

When I was fourteen
It's where I touched my first breast
Funny how I can't remember her name

That old red van
Told stories as it can
Of weeds and trees and bumble bees
Holding me in the sway of it's hand
I had no doubt of it's sincerity
For with the places it surely had been
It had the true lay of the land

Then one day
Now I remember
And it's like it happened yesterday
I came down the hill
To find it afire
All I could do is sit and cry
As my clubhouse
My hideout
My safe place
Burned itself out

So when that old line
About the "van down by the river"
Passes someone's lips
I smile
And I think of what a wonderful place
It used to be

#122 Hears Confession

Bless me father for I have sinned

Haven’t we all
And hasn’t it been a ball?
What else would I have done with my time

It’s been about 24 years since my last confession

Wow, that’s a long time
You must have a long list
But I’ve got awhile till I have to go

I’ve developed this bad habit

Oh god, here we go
It’s either going to be something totally banal
Or something so sick
I’ll have nightmares for a week

Of chewing my nails

Oh, say, that’s not so bad
Maybe I can sneak a quick look at my cell phone
Pass the time a little better

It cuts up my mouth real bad you see

Wait, what?
What the hell is he talking about
My nails never do that
I mean did that, I don’t chew my nails I swear

And then when I swallow them, I have to go the hospital to get them out

Ok, see what I mean?
Nightmares for a week of this one
I should hang out a sign
“No freaks please”

What should I do father?

One Rosary
And two acts of contrition my son
Ominous, Dominous
Let me the heck out of here

#121 Eyes May 21 On the Calendar

There’s been a revision!
I’m here to tell
On May 21
The good will go to heaven

The rest of us to hell

Hell on earth
To be exact
Some sort of war
Don’t look at me funny, it’s a fact

Harold Camping told me so
He also told me
The world would end in 1994
So I guess I’ll wait and see

If bunches of people
Are suddenly sucked up into heaven
On that day in May
I’ll have to stock up at the Seven Eleven

I’ll need supplies to last until October
That’s when the world ends for the rest of us
I’ll have Slurpees, and hot dogs aplenty
In the supply chest of my survival bus

You’re welcome to come along
Here, grab a weapon
I’ve got plenty to go around
Just watch where you are steppin’

Lots of chickens over here
Some sheep over there
Have to be ready for anything
So sit down, grab a chair

On second thought though, whether Camping is right or wrong
I think I’ll hold off on anything rash
I’m thinking my energies and money might be better served
In planning an End of The World Bash

You are all invited
May 21, 2011
See you there!
